South Western Railway to Run 22 Festival Special Trains
The South Western Railway (SWR) has announced the introduction of 22 festival special trains to meet the increased passenger demand during the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi, Deepavali, and Dussehra festivals.
For Ganesh Chaturthi, SWR will run three trips of train number 06589 from SMVT Bengaluru to Kalaburagi from September 5 to 7, 2024. The return journey (train number 06590) will operate from September 6 to 8, 2024.
During Deepavali, six special trains will run between various destinations including Mysuru-Vijayapur, Yesvantpur-Belagavi, and vice versa. These services will operate from October 30 to November 3, 2024.
The Dussehra festival will see the largest number of special trains, with 14 services connecting cities such as SMVT Bengaluru, Vijayapura, Yesvantpur, Belagavi, Mysuru, KSR Bengaluru, and Chamarajanagar. These trains will run between October 9 and 14, 2024.
Notable among these are daily services between Mysuru and KSR Bengaluru (train numbers 06279/06280 and 06285/06286) running for five consecutive days during the festival period.
